Thinking Out Loud… for 2008-06-30
- I just realized that none of my birthday’s involved a birthday cake…. does that mean I am entitled to a do-over? #
…let’s face it, pretty much everything is cooler than aquaman. Dedicated to finding and commenting on all the things in the world that are, without a doubt, cooler than aquaman.
BWE has spotted Mario Lopez out on the streets of New York AGAIN! If you remember, CTA saw Lopez shilling for Oscar Meyer, even getting down to wearing a kiss-the-cook apron. Well, now, he is out there promoting a new frosty treat from M&M’s.

Honestly, methinks I might have to try that ice cream treat.
But what IS going on with Mario Lopez? Does he shill for everything? Where will he show up next? What’s it gonna take to get him to promote coolerthanaquaman? CTA will be sure to be on the lookout for the next appearance of Mario Lopez in Times Square.
UPDATE: I am reminded that many young, starving actors in new york will work for promotions companies while they are between jobs as an easy way to make some money. Like working at a temp agency or waitressing. Is this what it has come to ML? Need to make some extra cash, so you sign up to do every promotion that will hand you 10 bucks an hour?

It’s hot out, isn’t it? Wanna know of a neat event coming up that will help to cool down?
The Great Astoria Water Balloon Fight!!!
This Sunday, Noon, Astoria Park, Astoria, NY
The water balloon fight will start promptly at NOON, so please be on time! This is a BYOWBFDCC event (bring your own water balloons, food, drinks, and change of clothes).
I have to work at noon… so I can’t go. Any field agents gonna be out there to take some pics? I’ll post them to coolerthanaquaman.
And PS: Saturday is my birthenday. Kyle’s too.
The Great Cookie Debate of ‘08 continues. And it’s defining moment may have happened here, in this clip from last week’s Colbert Report:
Personally, I prefer cupcakes. But a cookie is good enough for me!
Also: Awesome GB video game coming soon!! And Build-Your-Own Proton Pack, for adults!
I know that sounds like some kind of joke subject, a euphemism if you will, but its true. I was walking around Times Square today, and saw this:
That’s right folks. The Oscar Meyer Weiner mobile was parked right across from the Minskoff Theatre.
I had never seen the wiener-mobile up close, so I had to take a closer look. Even if they weren’t giving anything away, the chance to be upclose to a legend was too good to pass up!
I crossed the street, and there was an assortment of delicious condiments (and the mini-wiener):
They were proclaiming free hot dogs! More excitement! Though surely the line would be too long. Still, I continued closer to the wiener-mobile to see it up close. Just then, Mr. Ketchup says “Mario Lopez is giving away free hot dogs!”
What?
“Seriously.”
It wasn’t a joke, or a shameless ploy from a street promotions guy for attention. Celebrity Mario Lopez was in fact there. Giving away hot dogs. In Times Square.
So I walked closer amidst the crowds of visitors to see for myself.
And sure enough, there he was. Right beside the Holy Wiener-mobile.
See:
So sure enough, Mr. Ketchup was right. There he was. Helpin’ to cook hot dogs, and then giving them away to people. And talking about chorus line. (Which he is currently starring in on the Broadway.)
And making video blogs.
I’m really not sure what those things all have in common.
All that matters to me is that I got a free hot dog. The line wasn’t too bad after all. And some fun pics of celebrity Mario Lopez.
Jealous?
